Kayla's work is known for its intricate details and intense line work, often drawing inspiration from dark fantasy, folklore, surrealism, introspection, and slice of life.
Kayla Ballesteros is an artist who experiments with illustration, painting, comics, and sculpture. Her passion for art started at a young age, with inspiration from her father's expansive comic book collection and a love for art, movies, and animation. With her father, she learned how to design and apply tattoos at the age of sixteen and graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Visual Communications.
She expresses her art through various mediums and blends both traditional and digital tools. Kayla is currently working on several stories, including “Beyond the Snow”, “Iridescent Waves”, and “KISS KISS PANIC!”, “Beyond the Snow", is an independent comic inspired by classic folklore and fairy tales. “Iridescent Waves”, is a comic inspired by shoujo manga and anime. “KISS KISS PANIC!”, is a visual novel game that will be created in collaboration with writer Cody Jaey.
Kayla grew up on the South Side of Tucson and currently resides in Arizona. When not creating art, she enjoys consuming strong coffee, tea, comics/manga, anime, and movies, as well as spending time with her beloved dog, Hannibal.
